Chamber Singers

The University of South Florida Chamber Singers serve as our University’s premier, select choral ensemble.  The Chamber Singers strive, through a diverse and sophisticated repertoire, to bring audiences the very best in choral artistry and professionalism.  This select ensemble is comprised of undergraduate and graduate music majors, as well as experienced singers from other academic disciplines.  An interesting and challenging rehearsal and performance schedule includes performances on and off campus.

 Bel Canto Women’s Chorus

Tuesday/Thursday, 4:00 – 5:50pm

Friday 4:00 – 4:50pm (as needed)

The Bel Canto Women's Chorus is a select auditioned treble choir under the direction of Dr. Lynne Gackle.  This choir performs selections reflecting various style periods and genres from the vast repertoire of treble music currently available.  Rehearsals are highly organized and fast-paced providing a forum for the development of vocal skills, musicianship and choral techniques as well as the development of rewarding friendships for its members.  Bel Canto routinely collaborates with University Singers on combined performances giving its members the added opportunity of singing in a mixed voice setting as well as that for women only. 

University Singers

The University Singers is an auditioned, mixed choir under the direction of Dr. Zielinski.  Made up of singers from the USF School of Music and other academic disciplines throughout the USF community, the University Singers performs a wide and interesting variety of choral selections.  Rehearsals are organized, spirited, and rewarding, resulting in a vibrant choral organization presenting concerts locally and on campus. This choir offers an excellent singing opportunity for those seeking a less demanding rehearsal/performance commitment, but still wanting to improve their choral skills.

 

The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay

Tuesday, 7:30-10:00 pm 

The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay is a highly select 150-voice all volunteer chorus embracing a broad representation of singers from the entire Tampa Bay area. From its inception in 1979, its performances have been recognized consistently and critically for excellence.

 Designated in 1989 as the “Principal Chorus of The Florida Orchestra,” the Master Chorale is featured annually on the Orchestra’s Masterworks Season. The USF Chamber Singers often join the Master Chorale and Florida Orchestra in the presentation of these choral masterpieces. In 1999, the Master Chorale was appointed as “Artist-in-Residence” at the College of Visual & Performing Arts, School of Music at the University of South Florida. Founded in 2005 by their music director, the Richard Zielinski Singers, has already established a reputation for artistic excellence.  Consisting of 40 professional singers, the chorus inspires audiences with programs of contemporary American choral works as well as great choral classics.
